🌄 Jayram Dahal: Himalayan Climber, Trekking Guide, and a Voice for Climate Action
Jayram Dahal is a Nepali mountaineer, experienced trekking guide, and an emerging voice for climate awareness. With over 11 years of experience in the Himalayas and multiple climbing achievements, his journey is both adventurous and deeply inspiring.
A Child of the Himalayas
Jayram Dahal may not be a global celebrity, but his story is filled with courage, dedication, and deep love for nature. Born in Nepal, surrounded by the world’s most majestic mountains, he grew up learning life lessons from the hills, forests, and snowy peaks. The Himalayas were not just landscapes to him — they became his classroom, workplace, and life’s purpose.
Over a Decade of Trekking and Climbing Experience
With more than 11 years of experience in trekking and mountaineering, Jayram has guided hundreds of travelers safely through Nepal’s diverse and challenging mountain trails. His expertise goes beyond simply knowing the routes — he is trained to handle high-altitude risks, unpredictable weather, and emergency situations, while keeping morale high within his teams.
His calm leadership, mountain knowledge, and understanding of local terrain make him a trusted guide for both beginners and experienced adventurers.
Witness to Climate Change in the Himalayas
Jayram’s journey is not only about adventure — it is also about awareness. Spending years in the mountains has allowed him to witness the visible impacts of climate change firsthand. He has seen glaciers shrinking, snowlines retreating, and mountain ecosystems changing rapidly.
These experiences motivated him to become a climate advocate. He believes tourism in the Himalayas should support conservation, not harm it. For this reason, he contributes a portion of his trekking income toward environmental protection and awareness initiatives.
Major Climbing Achievement – Island Peak Summit
Jayram is not just a guide — he is also an accomplished climber. In 2024, he successfully summited Island Peak (6,165 meters) in the Everest region. This climb is considered a significant achievement and reflects not only physical strength but also mental resilience, preparation, and deep respect for the mountains.
Standing on that summit symbolized years of hard work, persistence, and passion for high-altitude climbing.
Sharing Culture Along with Adventure
Under his guidance, trekkers experience some of Nepal’s most iconic routes, including:
Everest Base Camp Trek
Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Langtang Valley Trek
Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek
Gokyo Lakes and Everest Region routes
But Jayram offers more than just trekking — he shares stories, culture, traditions, and local ways of life with visitors. He believes that understanding the people of the mountains is just as important as reaching the destination.
A Journey That Inspires
Jayram Dahal’s life is a story of perseverance, purpose, and responsibility. He represents a new generation of Nepali mountain professionals who combine adventure with environmental consciousness.
He does not see guiding as just a job, but as a way to protect the mountains he loves while helping others experience their beauty safely and responsibly.
His journey reminds us that the greatest summits are not only mountains — they are the challenges we overcome and the positive impact we leave behind.
